Donating Gifts of Stock and Securities - Elimination of Capital Gains Tax on Gifts
Making a donation of securities is a thoughtful way for you to make a gift. Many donors are turning their investments
into gifts for the Kelty Dennehy Foundation and, at the same time, benefiting by increasing their tax savings.
Thanks to a new tax break introduced by the 2006 Federal Budget, which eliminated capital gains taxes on gifts of publicly
listed securities donated to charities, all appreciated stock donated will be exempt from capital gains taxes. In
this way, the gift creates both a tax credit towards your annual income taxes plus a reduction in capital gains taxes.
Donors will receive a tax receipt for income tax purposes for the full market value of the securities at the date of the
transfer. This can be applied to your income taxes over the next five years, as any charitable contribution would,
but in addition any capital gains taxes you would have paid on the shares are eliminated. Gifts of appreciated publicly
listed securities makes stock the least expensive way to give a donation to the Foundation.
Making a gift of stock is easy. Simply ask your broker to contact the Foundation's President, Kerry Dennehy, and
arrange to forward them to the Kelty Dennehy Foundation's brokerage account with the RBC. From that point, we will
work with your broker and its financial institution to complete the donation. The whole process can take up to three
days from the point of informing your broker of your wish to make a gift.

IN MEMORIUM DONATIONS
Over the past six years, numerous families have generously requested that "in lieu of flowers" donations be made
to the Foundation. These families have listed the name and address of our Foundation on the funeral program and in the
obituary. We thank these families:
- The Gerald Patrick Dennehy Family, deceased father of Kerry Dennehy
- The Bob Murray Family, deceased son (Blair Murray) who committed suicide in 2003
- The Shaun Patrick Dennehy Family, deceased elder brother of Kerry Dennehy
- The Family of Constance Bousfield Crossin, mother of Marion Titterton and Gail Desnoyers
- The Family of Kristofer Michael Wintemute, son of Mike and Jeannie Wintemute
IN CELEBRATION DONATIONS - GIFT REGISTRY
Those who suffer from depression or have felt its effects are beginning to search for more meaningful ways to celebrate
significant events in their lives. Such is the case in the marriage between Rohan Hazelton and Natalie Forchuk.
Rohan suffers from depression, so the couple decided to add our Foundation to their gift registry. As an added bonus, we
now have Natalie as a member on our Board.
WILLS - PLANNED GIVING
A neat thing happened today. An old friend, Ed Styffe of Whistler stopped me on the street and said, "Kerry,
I just rewrote my will and included your Foundation as a beneficiary - I guess you'd like me to kick the bucket sooner
than later, eh?" A good guy with a sense of humour to match. Thanks Ed! Please email
Kerry Dennehy if you would like to include the Foundation in your will.
