Depression... Living and Winning
An eye opening and unveiling panel discussion on depression and the devastating effect it has on families, friends and
community.
This free, standing room only program featured Dr. Allan Young, psychiatrist and researcher in depression and Dr. Jane
Garland, child psychiatrist and head of the Mood Disorder Clinic at B.C. Children's Hospital.
Untreated,
depression is more prevalent than we think. Discussions dealt with this as well as depression's impact on our society.
The role of the family, friends and prescription drugs were covered, as well as counseling and getting help when in need. The panel highlighted the work British Columbians are doing to address
the mental health of our youth. This presentation showed that there is hope and help for those suffering.
