What to do if you are feeling depressed or suicidal:

  1. If you are suicidal and need to speak with someone trained and sensitive to your condition, call the Crisis Center Distress Line anonymously toll free 1-866-661-3311.

If you know anyone who is suicidal tell a counselor or mental health professional NOW! If you are not sure if a friend, relative, associate is suicidal, ask them so and ask by what means they are thinking of ending their life. They really are crying out for help in desperation and want to talk to someone who may be able to help them.
  2. If you are depressed or know someone who is depressed and want to investigate more about the condition a good website is YouthInBC.com.
  3. Tell tale signs of depression:
sleeplessness, loss of purpose/direction, change in character, lack of appetite, reckless behavior, increased drug/alcohol use, failing in school, introverted/isolated behavior, increased anxiety, lack of interest in previous sports/hobbies.
  4. If you want to chat with someone direct or online, go to YouthInBC.com
  5. If you are beginning to feel depressed or anxious read the following author's tips on how to manage upcoming crisis. Some of this may be repetitious, but it will be helpful.
