WHAT HAS BEEN DONE SO FAR?
An Update as of December 2007
The Kelty Patrick Dennehy Foundation has raised $1.24 million from all six annual 'Drive FORE Life' golf events.
In addition, it has raised $1.2 million from the Kelty Circle and other generous donations, bringing the total raised to
$2.44 million. We are thankful for the generosity of our donors who continue to believe in our mission and support
our efforts. In 6˝ years, we are proud to have become one of the top B.C. foundations in raising funds for the cause
of depression in young people.
In concert with our leadership role in fighting the cause of Depression, funds raised will be allocated as follows:

New Mental Health Building at BC Children's Hospital
A total of $1 million dollars has been forwarded to BC Children’s Hospital to support the building of Canada’s only free-standing
Mental Health Facility for Youth and Children - a treatment, education and research facility. The Kelty Dennehy Foundation

$500,000 was fulfilled to support the establishment of a Chair in Depression Research at the UBC/VGH Centre of Excellence

The Kelty Resource Centre
A pledge commitment of $450,000 for the new Kelty Resource Centre, situated at BC Children's Hospital within the Mental
Health Facility, was made. The Centre will create numerous opportunities to vastly improve upon the quality of programs
and care for children and youth experiencing mental health issues. The Centre will: 1) provide new and current information
resources to families, children, youth and communities; 2) increase the consultation and assessment capacity to all children
in youth in need of help through Tele-Mental Health; and 3) facilitate knowledge in care and health promotion/prevention
among health professionals through Tele-Mental Health... read more
UBC Research Study
A $500,000 pledge commitment to the Centre of Excellence for Depression Research and Care at UBC/VGH was made, which will
fund a multi-year study to understand what makes children from certain families more vulnerable to mood disorders, adolescent
depression and suicide and to identify early warning signs.
Local Initiatives in Whistler - Building a Community Template
We created a working “transportable community template for depression” which, when applied into a community, will work
to remove the stigma of depression through education and awareness initiatives and assist to develop systems of support
that are critical to youth getting the help they need... read more

We continue to fund the delivery of suicide prevention and stress management workshops to youth, as well as, support the
award winning www.youthinbc.com, the first of its kind, confidential, free, one-on-one
chat line for youth in distress.
